THE DESIGNERS

This year saw a very talented selection of designers for Wimbledon
Fashion Week! With inspiration coming from designers such as Azzedine Alaia and Christopher Kane. Other references
came from cultural backgrounds, politics, patterns and classical styles.

DRIANN
The latest collection from Driann is inspired by the woman who has both an active career and social life. She exudes confidence, is strong and courageous. She is not afraid to express her individuality with her bold choices of colours in her clothing. Her style is daring yet elegant.  Gathering inspiration from the unpredictable nature of everyday life, Diana’s designs are targeted to the discerning customers who values unique, fun and above all else high quality products. She creates her design for the woman who is confident with effortless style and chic. A woman who is not afraid of a little color and glamour. Diana’s philosophy for fashion is ‘’Style is Chic, Exciting and Effortless’’.

SRUTI SETHURAMAN
My collection is inspired by the iconic ‘bandage dress’. The dresses experienced a resurgence in 2007 when Christopher Kane launched his line of body con dresses encompassing lace trim and boudoir ruffles. Originally founded in 1985 by Herve Leger, the dresses seamlessly form the female silhouette with signature banding construction. Azzedine Alaia, was another designer whose signature look was skin-tight, sculpted dresses, but with the arrival of nineties minimalism, all those bandage-tight cocktail dresses fell out of style until now.

My collection was created using neoprene, which is a type of synthetic rubber that is waterproof. Consisting of six dresses, the designs represent a modern vision with extraordinary colour combinations of purple and grey, black and fluorescent, vivid-orange and grey. Virtually every dress features the same body- clinging shape and same length. Elastic trims in colours such as grey, purple, black, navy and fluorescent give the designs an overall dramatic look, which is both intense and an articulated example of the Herve leger/ Alaia nineties. I was driven by lust for vivid colour with a sportswear edge. Design features also include zips that further accentuate the female silhouette.

MARK J
The look of my collection is very much red carpet. The kind of gowns that would be seen at the oscars or movie premiere, banquet or ball. Dresses are mainly long and fitted, some sweep the floor with a trail, they fit the curve of the body and some are strapless. The dresses are very elegant and stunning.
